And they continued to do that and continued to do that until the shell was full, and then theyd cramp it, and then thats what theyd shoot when the geese jumped up, theyd shoot that into it and itd get out there and stretch out and take off wings and heads and necks and all kinds of stuff. And I asked them a long time ago how that all came into being, and he didnt describe exactly what we hunted over today, but something very similar. Heres what Im trying to say, we were in a zone that you cant shoot any (white-fronted geese) specklebellies and yet, everybody I know wants to come to California because the specklebelly limit is ten. Hell, when I was ten years old, thats all I wanted to do. She and her husband basically took care of all the boys and the girls, and raised them. The California Waterfowl Hunt Program provides access to 60,000 acres of private land including some of the most prestigious duck clubs in the country to hunters of all ages and abilities. And I remember when I finally got it right, I crawled right in the middle of this field and got in the middle, and there was birds on each side of me and I thought, Well, well see. I grabbed a shotgun shell and tapped my gun barrel, and Ill be damned if every bird in that field didnt go silent and its head go straight up in the air. Some of the marginal rice ground, or I shouldnt say even marginal rice ground, its probably better ground suited for something else that used to be in rice.
